IIT's Peak Professionalism(RANT)

My institution showed me the peak example of professionalism. In 2nd year 1st Semester, we had a course name Object-Oriented Concepts-II. As the semester started, the assigned teacher couldn't take any class for the first month due to some "Routine Collisions". Before mid, he stepped up his gear and took 2-3 classes to cover the entire syllabus before mid.

After mid, he again missed a few classes and covered his entire syllabus within 5-6 classes. He then told us he will take a lab exam on these topics and we also have to submit an individual project within a few days. This semester, we already have a Software Project Lab where we need to make a big project and there were lab finals within the deadline. There were no lab classes and so giving a lab exam and making a project was absurd. We(Me and my batchmates) decided we will give the lab exam but won't submit the project and we will take this matter to a higher authority.

The lab exam was a huge clusterfuck as our course teacher gave a topic that wasn't taught properly in class and he told us to make an insanely big thing within 75 minutes. Likewise, non could finish the test. Our batch now went into full-on rant mode. We had to teach the teacher a lesson. There will be no project and the lab exam marks must be curtailed.

So, we made an application, took everyone's signature, and went to our Exam and batch coordinator. The course teacher was summoned and he defended himself saying that he indeed taught everything. He also said we can't give any proof about not taking lab classes (He told us to code the things he taught at the end of the class, this was his version of lab classes).

Furthermore, if we were to cancel the individual project we will receive an assignment that will be assigned individually and Sir will make sure that it is as hard as possible (He mentioned a list of things that will be there). Besides, there will be no deadline extension. But if we were to do the project, we will get an additional two days. The initial project submission date was the 21st. It will be extended up to 24th April and we will give a presentation on 24th. Seeing no alternative, we had to accept. (Maybe we had but none responded)

There were lab exams from 12th April to 20th. We were told to make the project on the 19th. There was an Iftaar Party on 21st. So we had two days to make the project consisting of everything taught in class.

In these two days, I spent hours trying to find what to do, what to implement, wrote codes, erased codes, and haphazardly came up with a rag-tagged project. It had the lines but it had nothing to show for it. I also needed to help one of my classmates to make his project. The two days went by in a panic fest, I couldn't sleep and couldn't eat. 24th was the day of the presentation.

Our teacher took the presentation of a few people outdoors(God knows what he saw and how he marked), after getting indoors he took the presentation of a few very seriously and asked serious questions but for others, the presentation lasted less than a minute.

He didn't ask me any questions, just told me to better write a portion of the code. He didn't see the GUI(We were told to make a GUI) and didn't see every feature either.

When defending his project, he told us he will not give us a group project as he cannot mark anyone individually in a group. He needs individual projects for proper marking.

The presentation marking indeed was very proper.
